Texas Raiders: One of only eleven B-17 Flying Fortresses still flying today!

The Gulf Coast Wing (GCW) is a volunteer only nonprofit 501-c-3 organization of hard working individuals dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and flying of Texas Raiders, an authentically restored WWII B-17G Flying Fortress Bomber.

  • Tail: Span 43 feet; 331.1 square feet
  • Overall Length: 74 feet 9 inches
  • Rudder: 19 feet 1 inch

The sky calls to me to spread my wings

What a welcome sight. A beautiful blue sky with lovely white clouds to decorate the scenery. The taxi lines lead the way, and the threshold dares me to cross over into the soaring zone. It beacons me and I must go! Submitted by Jim
